HOW TO ADOPT:

We have successfully matched almost three thousand German Shepherds with new owners. We get an accurate picture of each dog’s temperament, energy level and needs and match them to your experience and lifestyle.

The dog you think you want to adopt may not be the dog you end up taking home!

1) FILL OUT AN ADOPTION APPLICATION.

In about 10 minutes you’ll tell us about your experience, lifestyle and where you live. This helps us get a picture of you and the type of dog that you are looking for. Ready? Just click here.

2) WE CONTACT YOU.

One of our Adoption Counselors will reach out to you as quickly as possible and arrange a time to discuss your application in more detail. We know you are excited to get started but please remember we are all volunteers. Our Adoption Counselor will ask you to email some pictures of your house, yard, fencing, gates, and where your dog will spend time. Please understand we are not being ‘nosy’. There are times we cannot complete a home visit and we need to know that the environment is safe and secure, protected from the elements as needed, free of dangerous plants and obstacles, etc. We understand if you are uncomfortable with this part of the process and we encourage you to discuss this with your Adoption Counselor.

If you are waiting to be contact, please keep an eye on your email spam as occasionally emails from the rescue get sent to your spam folder.

3) FINDING YOUR NEW DOG!

Once you have been approved, the really fun part begins - Finding your new dog. You may already have a dog in mind or you may still be looking. Keep an eye on our website and Facebook page to see current and new dogs.  The moment you see a dog that you are interested in you’ll contact your Adoption Counselor.

4) ADOPTING YOUR DOG

If it seems like a good match, we arrange for you to meet the dog. Be ready - if the right match is made, you will be able to adopt your dog, there and then, and take your dog home that day!  The adoption fee is $400 for puppies and adults. If the dog has not yet been altered due to age or health reasons, a spay/neuter deposit of $50 will also be required which will be returned to you upon your required submission of proof of sterilization.

That really is it!

PLEASE NOTE: Puppies have clear developmental stages that must be met appropriately. Please be prepared to share your experience and plans for raising your new pup. We will be very careful in placing puppies in homes that are able to provide them the very best start. We appreciate your understanding.
